005 - 3/20/10

Boy oh boy was today exhausting! I got some awesome shopping done, and the weather was gorgeous! Plus, baby Hunter was in a really good mood, which made the day that much better. I bought a ton of cute summer things. The fact that there are outlet stores for Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch totally made the hour drive worth it! I got a dress, four pairs of shorts, and a few tops. I'm so used to Washington weather that I don't really have summer type clothes. At least, not a lot. I went to the Disney Store outlet while we were at the mall, and I was pretty disappointed. That's probably for the best though, considering I really don't need to be spending any money on Disney paraphernalia. I'd rather save up that money for Company D! Oh, how I miss Company D.

I've been debating whether I should attempt to find a roommate before June, or just test my luck and wait it out. So, I tried to get paired up with a roommate on the DCP website, and it told me I wasn't eligible. I guess that means I'm going to just wing it on check in day! I might post a roommate survey on here later, but just for the fun of it. I'd rather end up with a horrible roommate assigned to me than end up with a horrible roommate I hand picked. Can you tell I've had roommate issues in the past?? I might just be a little bitter, please forgive me and take what I say with a grain of salt (that's the right phrase, isn't it?).

I feel like no one actually reads this. I mean, I have eleven followers, but I've yet to hear feedback of any source. Oh well though, I'm an only child, so I'm used to talking to myself. Plus, looking back in years to come, it will be fun to look at this, regardless of whether or not anyone else read it.

Seeing as how its almost 1AM, I feel like I should probably head to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a lazy, stay at home day. I'm looking forward to that!

004 - 3/19/10

This is probably going to be relatively short. Today was a nice relaxing day. Nothing too excited happened. Just went to the grocery store and the mall here in Dover. Tomorrow we are going to try going to the outlets, as we got a late start today. I'm so excited to go shopping for Florida clothes! I want to buy dresses and shorts and all that jazz. Those are definitely things I can't wear in Ellensburg. I love dresses, but its so windy all the time in E-burg!

No new exciting news on the Disney front. Well, except that my friend Katie is probably going to do Fall, instead of Fall Advantage with me. That's OK though. As long as she's down there for my birthday, everything will work out! Especially since the reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table have already been made! That does mean, however, that I am going to be on the hunt for a roommate. I'm not too concerned about finding one before I get there though. I just don't want to have roommate drama like last time. It would be nice to actually complete this program.

Oh, one exciting thing! I figured out how to put my formspring on my blog! So, feel free to ask me questions! As you can tell, I love talking about myself. I just run out of things to say on occasion. If you ask, I'll answer. Promise!

Well, I'm heading to bed because my sleep schedule is still a little out of whack. I'm very excited for the beach/shopping tomorrow.

003 - 3/18/10

Today has been entirely too long. My flight left this morning at 1:15, and I could NOT sleep. It was so horrible. I've never taken a red eye flight before, and I doubt I ever will again. Everyone on the plane was passed out, except me of course. I decided to attempt to watch New York, I Love You. However, about halfway in, I got really sleepy, so I turned it off, thinking I would sleep. I was wrong!

However, I made it safely to Delaware, and I'm so excited to be here! I've missed my best friend a lot. Living on opposite sides of the country will do that to you! Tomorrow we are thinking we might go to this awesome outlet mall on the beach about 45 minutes from here, but it depends on how well her baby boy handles the day. Today, he decided to cry anytime we were in the car. It didn't bother me any, but at one point I was on the phone with a Disney recruiter, and I felt a little bad.

Speaking of my recruiter, she was my savior today! I called her two days ago because I was needing to leave June 14, which is considered Fall Advantage Quarter. When I called, she was already out of the office, and then she was gone yesterday. Today, when I talked to her, she said it was no problem and changed things for me! I was SO relieved, especially because June 7 is no longer available! Then, I asked her what I needed to do regarding my phobia of loud noises, since it was an issue for my last CP. She told me that she was going to put a note in my folder that I needed to be placed either in resorts or waterparks so that I don't have to deal with any fireworks shows or anything. That worked out great, because I really want to be in either the resorts or waterparks anyways, as I've already done working in the parks at Disneyland. I also told her that I have both previous barista experience and experience working in an ice cream shop, and that I would love to be placed in something along those lines if possible. She told me that of course, nothing is guaranteed, but that it was in my notes. She definitely helped me feel a million times better about the role I've accepted, and I can't wait for June 14 to get here!

Now, I just need to focus on my awesome spring break with my awesome best friend, and take things one day at a time!

On one final note, I just started reading Cast Member Confidential, and I've got to say, so far it's an excellent book. Granted, I'm only on page 39, but still!

002 - 3/17/10

Today is definitely a day I've been looking forward to for a long time. Well, not really a long time. More like a few weeks. As soon as my mom gets here, I'm packing up her car and heading out. Not only am I going to visit my best friend for Spring Break, but I'm also moving out of my lovely apartment! No more living alone and paying way too much for rent! I'm so incredibly excited to move, and I can't wait for the next two weeks.

I'm also really excited for next quarter because all but one of my classes are for my majors, so that's really great. I think I'm actually going to enjoy Spring quarter. Fingers crossed, right? As soon as that quarter is over, I get to leave for Florida! Last night, my grandpa pointed out that I basically already have my life until January 2011 all planned out. Its true, I really do. Its nice to know that I'm going places and doing things and getting out of my comfort zone.
It seems like a LOT of people have been accepted the last couple of days. That's so awesome! I have this fear that the arrival date I need is going to fill up before I can pick it. I called recruiting yesterday to discuss the fact that I need the June 14th arrival because of school, but they were already gone for the day. Then, when they called back today, I was still sleeping (gotta love east coast vs. west coast). Hopefully, tomorrow I can get everything figured out. I've already paid my $100, so I guess we will just see what happens. I'm sure, if need be, leaving the 7th wouldn't be too horrible. As long as all my professors are OK with me missing finals. Judging by how one final went this quarter though, who knows.

Well, I have entirely too much to get done today, so I guess that's it for today. Cleaning an apartment is way harder than I thought. Especially when you're packing for three different things.

For my next blog post, I'll be on the east coast! I'm so excited! I land in less than 24 hours! Woo hoo!

001 - 3/16/10

I'm new to this whole blogging thing, but I guess we will see how it goes!
(If all goes well, I might even start a vlog!)

Today, at about 11:15AM, I was accepted for Fall Advantage 2010 College Program! I'm really excited about it. Initially, I was a little disappointed about my role, simply because I was hoping to do something I haven't done before, but that has worn off! Now, I just can't wait for June to get here fast enough!

Let's see, you probably want to know a little about me, right? Well, where to start?

The name's Kayla, I'm 20 years young (I turn 21 while I'm in Florida actually), and I'm currently a Junior at Central Washington University. I'm double majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management Technology, with a minor in Tourism Management. I don't really party, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to have fun. I've only been to WDW once, when I was in eighth grade I think. Seeing as how it's on the opposite side of the country, it makes going there a little difficult. Disneyland, on the other hand, I've been to way too many times. I had been probably 6 or 7 times before I did College Program there, but now I can safely say I've been hundreds of times.

When I did the DCP at Disneyland, my role was ODV (Outdoor Vending), which was definitely an adventure. You never know what land you're going to be in, or what cart you're going to be at. Your schedule might say that you're selling churros in Critter Country, when in reality they need you to sell ice cream in Tomorrowland. It wasn't an easy job, by any means, but it was definitely a fun job. You got to interact with a lot of people, and you were out in the lovely California sun all day! My favorite place to work was probably either the churros cart in front of the Castle, or the popcorn cart in front of the Haunted Mansion.

My first DCP was a life changing experience for me, and even though I wasn't able to finish the program, I learned SO much and made so many awesome friends. One of which just got accepted for Fall Advantage 2010 today as well! It seems like a lot of people got accepted today. I got accepted, and so did two of my friends. How lovely.

Well, I'm not sure exactly how this whole blog business is going to go. I've never done one before, but I see all these other people doing them, and I want to be cool too! I made a formspring, but I have no idea how to post it on here or anything. I like to consider myself pretty tech savvy (especially considering I'm an IT major), but this blogspot business is a little more complicated than I'm used to! If anyone wants to give me some pointers, please feel free!

I guess that's it for today. I need to go finish packing to go visit my best friend in Delaware for TEN days and such.
